Daily Announcements

Students who purchased parking tags should now be parking in their own spots! You are not allowed to park at Lehan Drug store during the school day or you may be get a ticket or be towed.  The stores parking lot may not be used as a pick up or drop off.

Attention Juniors:  A second section of the PSAT test has opened.  If you are interested in taking the PSAT, please pick up a permission slip from the student services office and return the completed slip along with a check for $20 to Mrs. Maney in the student services office by 3:00 PM.  Please know that we can only accommodate an additional 25 students, so spots are limited.

Attention Seniors:  Sign up to do the morning announcements in the main office.

Attention freshman! Do you want to be a class officer? Freshman class elections will be going on for the next 2 weeks. Pick up your information packet and petition in the main office.

Sophomores who are interested in running for open class officer positions of Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, or Class Representatives -- there are forms available in the main office.  You must get the required signatures and write a paragraph regarding why you are the best candidate for this position.  This application if due by Wednesday, September 15th by 3:00 pm in the main office.&quot;

&quot;Student Council members who are interested in applying for any of the Chair/Committee Positions:  Social Chair, Service Chair, Spirit Chair, Parliamentarian, Informant and Honor Book Chair, there are forms available in the main office. DHS Students:  The Taste of DHS will start at 1:00 and run through to 2:45.

“For  Amanda With Love” bracelets are being sold for $5 to support Amanda Bartosz and her family with medical expenses.  The bracelets will be available at the Taste.  Any questions, please see Colleen Boyce or Mrs. Dugan.

The DeKalb/Sycamore Castle Challenge games are Friday, September 10 at the NIU football stadium.  Your ID will NOT get you in that game for free.  Student tickets for the sandwich meal and the game are available in the Athletic Office for $6, adult tickets for $12.  Tickets for the game only can only be purchased at NIU the night of the game.  Game only tickets will be $3 for students and $6 for adults.

Herff Jones will take orders for class rings on  Friday, September 10th during lunch periods outside the commons. A down payment of $75.00 for non-gold rings and $125.00 for gold rings is required to place an order.

Project Breakthrough will meet in the DHS Library Media Center on Friday morning, September 10th from 6:45-7:30.  Please let Mrs. Hueber know if you will not be able to attend.

WYSE Team tryouts will be held now through September 30th.  Academic challenges are held in the areas of biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering graphics, English, mathematics, and physics.  You will compete as an individual and as part of the DHS team.  We will compete at regional, sectional, and state finals (if we qualify).  Please see Mrs. Kovarik in Room 249 if you are interested in being part of this academic team.

The Northern Illinois University ACT Test Prep program is set to start on September 25 with a pre-test. Registration for this event is now open! Interested students should contact Mark Pietrowski, coordinator, at 815-753-1456 for more information.
